It was in 1986 when I – Klaus Botta – was still in the middle of my design studies, standing in front of the window of a Frankfurt jeweler. The watches on display tried to outdo one another in complexity. Hands, displays, complications – a competition of overload.
In that moment, I asked myself a fundamental question:
“What if the solution was not more, but less?”

This realization became a turning point in my thinking. On the very same day, I sketched the concept of a watch with just a single hand. It was the birth of the modern single-hand watch. Radically simplified, remarkably clear, yet precise enough for everyday life.

What began as a student experiment soon evolved into a philosophy of life. I recognized a deeper need in our increasingly complex and overstimulated world: the longing for clarity, for overview, for a confident relationship with our most valuable resource – time.

Here lies the paradox: the more we try to control time, the more it controls us.

Our watches are the answer to this dilemma. They are not merely timekeepers, but instruments for a more conscious and more relaxed relationship with time.
