65th design award for BOTTA
The TRES 24 by BOTTA convinces with an unconventional display principle paired with outstanding design quality. It has now received an award for this: The watch was awarded the Good Design Award 2020. Every year, the Chicago Athenaeum Design Museum honours high-quality product design with this internationally renowned award.
Natural logic and technical fascination
The outstanding feature of the TRES 24 is its unconventional but at the same time convincingly logical display concept: it is a 24-hour three-hand watch. The time display follows the natural logic of a day. Analogous to the 24 hours of the day, the dial of the TRES 24 is also divided into 24 sections that correspond to the respective position of the sun at the respective time of day. The lower half of the dial is dark and symbolises the night, the upper half is lighter and symbolises the day.
Thanks to the watch's 24-hour scale, the time display appears much more natural than with a conventional 12-hour division. At the same time, it enables a very precise reading of the time, because in addition to the 24-hour hand, it also has a minute and a second hand. The latter has a further design refinement. Instead of pointing to the scale conventionally with a long hand, it is designed as a small disc with a C-shaped imprint. The open section of the ring in the shape of a "C" indicates the seconds. Due to the minimalised movement of the C-hand, the watch runs more calmly than conventional watches with nervously twitching second hands.The principle of the C hand is protected by BOTTA.
All TRES 24 models have a three-dimensional dial. Their scales are divided by four colour-contrasting appliqués. They give the 24-hour watches a striking appearance and help to easily keep track of the hand position.
Automatic and Quartz in three color variants
The TRES 24 is available in three dial versions: black dial with white quadrants, white dial with black quadrants and black dial with orange quadrants.
As with all BOTTA watches, the high standards apply to the design as well as to the choice of materials and workmanship.
The TRES 24 models have a pleasantly light, robust and anti-allergenic titanium case. The top ring and back of each watch are screwed concentrically, which makes maintenance significantly easier.
The TRES 24 automatic models are powered by a refined ETA automatic movement. The quartz models are powered by a Swiss Made RONDA movement.
