Phase 1: Understanding & Awareness

Anke Botta, Klaus Botta, 23.09.2025

Develop a new awareness of your time. Discover what time truly means to you – and where it really goes.

Impulse 1: Notice Time – Be aware of your time

Time is far more than just calendars or clocks – it is your personal experience. Recognize when you are truly present and when moments simply pass you by. Becoming aware of your time is the first step toward greater clarity.

Impulse 2: Track Time - Document your time

Many people misjudge how they use their time—they overestimate productive phases and underestimate distractions. This leads to a perceived time pressure.

The first step toward greater time sovereignty is honest documentation: over several days, all activities, energy levels, and moods are recorded. This reveals patterns—such as underestimated transitions, hidden “time oases,” or energy highs and lows.

Impulse 3: Visualize Time - Make your time visible

Represent your daily routine graphically—whether as a block schedule, sketch, or diagram. This will help you quickly identify bottlenecks or potential areas for improvement and see how your rhythm flows. Visibility brings structure and reveals new possibilities.

Reflection question: What does my time picture tell me about rhythm, bottlenecks, and opportunities? Which time slot in your daily routine deserves more attention or a new structure?

Impulse 4: Evaluate Time - Assess your time clearly

Time is more than just a sequence of hours – but how consciously do we use it? We often record what we do, but not how we actually experience and shape our time. After consciously perceiving and visualizing our time, this impulse focuses on a crucial next step: evaluation. By recognizing which parts of your day are fixed and which are flexible, you gain clarity about where your creative freedom lies—and how you can expand it in a targeted manner.

Impulse 5: Question Time - Question the use of your time

Recognize time wasters and routines that no longer help you move forward, and decide what no longer fits with your goals or values. This will create space for what is essential.

Reflection question: What routine or obligation could you let go of today to create more space for what is essential?

Impulse 6: Own Time

The choice is yours: every commitment is also a rejection of something else. Strengthen your confidence by setting clear rules for your time—and taking small but consistent steps.

Reflection question: Which of my decisions today shows that I am in control of my time?

Impulse 7: Align Time - Spend time in line with your values

Bring your values and your use of time into harmony. Regularly check whether work, family, and leisure time in their current form fit in with your life plan—and make adjustments where necessary. This will help you stay on track, even when things get turbulent.

Reflection question: How can I tell that my use of time fits in with my values?
